Grassroots, the Newsletter of the Grassland Society of Southern Africa and incorporating the Bulletin, is published quarterly and distributed to all members and subscribers as well as a select VIP mailing list. Furthermore, the Grassroots is available to download on the website.

The purpose of Grassroots is to keep Grassland Society of Southern Africa members and other interested parties informed of news, events, publications, reports and opportunities in their field of interest, and to provide a forum for debate and exchange of ideas in rangeland ecology and pasture management.

What can I find in Grassroots?

  • Short, concise summaries of interesting and important scientific publications and reports, spanning natural, social and economic sciences. Ideal for the scientist who is always on the go.
  • Get to know our extensive and interesting local plant species in our "Grass of the month", "Tree of the month" and "Karoo plant of the month".
  • Short research notes and observations from relevant research that are important and of interest to readers but which may not be suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Information on upcoming events like workshops, symposia and workshops.
  • Post-graduate research opportunities.
